Childlike Reflections - Week 1

This week's sermon and Scriptures prompted me to think about how children are really good at both giving and receiving. I'm really not that great at either. I tend to feel the need to "settle the scores" when someone gives me a gift and I can feel entitled to receive the same love that I give. In reality, God's not like that- the Gospel is not like that.

So, Bobby said I could incorporate my poems into the blog. Here's one I wrote about giving and receiving. Thanks for reading!

Unworried Love

A listening ear may be borrowed and never returned
The offer of a shoulder to cry on never reciprocated

And sometimes, greater love has no friend than this:
To give up his ideal Saturday for the plans of another

Although I might be concerned with getting out exactly what I put in,
Love is not worried about being paid back
